Summary

Chen(Ken) Cat

All throughout my career I adapted quickly to new complex topics, contributed to the technical implementation, built tools, libraries and automations to help my colleagues and served as the 'conceptual bridge' that made the implementation something that everybody can understand and have a common language about.

Education

M.Sc in Medical sciences - Molecular Genetics and Human Biochemistry

2019 - 2021

Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel

Thesis: Exploration of genetic big data, wrote Python code to process it and presented interaction patterns in cancer and other pathologies as a system of systems with the use of GSEA and Cytoscape.

M.Sc in Electrical Engineering - Nano photonics

2012 - 2017

Bar Ilan University, Ramat Gan, Israel

Final project: A MATLAB program that simulates the electro-magnetic field of plasmonic nanoparticles and fluorophores with the MNPBEM (boundary element method) toolbox and applied a genetic algorithm to optimize their physical parameters.

B.Sc in Electrical Engineering - Majored in Electro-optics, microelectronics, and materials engineering.

2006 - 2010

Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel

Final project: Fabricated and tested (electro-chemistry, photolithography, etching, clean room microscopy) a biosensing system on a chip (SoC) based on metal + self-assembled monolayer, oxide semiconductor (SAM-MOS) capacitors.

Professional Experience

Main Personal Projects - Python/SQL/Typescript

  • Data ingestion, orchestration and storage platform: (https://github.com/CCathlete/pipeline_infra) based on Apache Hadoop, Spark, Hive and Airflow, managed with docker containers by Terraform code. Storage is handled by MinIo (S3 data lakehouse), postgres (data warehouse). The back end and ELT pipelines are written in Python: (https://github.com/CCathlete/newspipe). Extraction (streaming + scraping) and analysis are AI based, the data is streamed via a proxy service (LiteLLM) to model providers through model hubs (Open Router, Github, Google AI Studio).
  • eCommerce data handling app that includes ETL, streaming & caching (Hazelcast jet), persistent storage (MySQL), API & RBAC security (Spring), monitoring & visualisation (Prometheus, Grafana) and is deployed on a cloud (Heroku).

Data Engineer, Puella

March 2025 – December 2025
Tech Stack: Python, JavaScript, linux (debian), postgres, docker, GCP, BigQuery, MongoDB
  • Designed and optimised data storage infrastructure that was the base for multiple analyses and dashboards for all teams in the company (finance, marketing, product, warehouse). (Postgres, BigQuery)
  • Created ELT + ETL pipelines that ingested and transformed data from various APIs (Meta, Google Ads, GA4, Microsoft, Jira, ABRA Flexi and more). Supporting both streaming real time data, incremental extraction and time based extraction, answering a vast range of needs.
  • Created and managed a python library with tools for quick data ingestion (pandas, pyspark, sqlalchemy, sqlglot, asyncio) giving data analysts easy tools for the integration of multiple independent databases (gcloud-postgres, BigQuery, mongoDB).
  • Created a micro services based environment using docker compose to support automated and real time reports, ETL orchestration and data quality monitoring (uptime kuma).

Automation developer, Ceva – AI processors group

August 2022 – January 2024
Tech Stack: Python, C++, Go, docker, Jenkins, Groovy, Azure devops
  • Rebuilt our Python automation framework for AI model testing, making it clear, pythonic, scalable, strongly typed and having low memory signature. The new framework combined functional programming, OOP and lazy loading, had reduced operation time and offered higher maintainability.
  • Optimised regression testing coverage by adding support for remote loading. This shortened development time by making it easier for app developers to find and fix bugs.
  • Owned the entire final compilation, build and packaging process including the final release and black box sanity check on different platforms.
  • Participated in a company wide investigation of a malfunction that halted the development process.

System integration engineer, Parallel wireless

April 2021 – august 2022
Tech Stack: Python, CentOS Linux, Bash, LXC, RF hardware
  • Suggested, pitched and integrated the development of an emulation system that reduces the need of lab equipment.
  • Reduced manual effort in integration tests by automating parsing of logs with python and bash scripts.
  • Served as an integrator in feature developments, bridging between the project manager, multiple directors, software developers and QA engineers. I made sure the team has good communication and common language.
  • Crafted test plans, manuals and documentation for system setups and debugging. I presented reports, plans and setbacks to management and team members.

Unmanned Aerial Systems Engineer, Israeli Air Force

2012 – 2016
Tech Stack: Python, RF hardware, Windows servers
  • Performed field tests for airborne equipment in rapid development sprints and manual QA tests.
  • Bridged between ground, sea and air engineering teams, operational units and civilian engineering teams in various high paced development projects.

Technical Lead Officer (RF lab) + Field Integrator, israeli air force

2010 – 2012
Tech Stack: Python, RF hardware, Windows servers
  • Led a team of approx 20 military technicians, performing high intensity system failure investigations.
  • Bridged between operational units of multiple corps and the military engineers in the integration of new technology to operational units. I coordinated and helped plan the experiments, translated operational requirements to technical specifications and made sure every test or operation adhered to military safety standards.
